A teacher’s skin cancer fight moved her students deeply. They wanted to support the hospital that helped her. The students at Orme Academy raised over £350. They gave it to the UHNM Charity.

Stephanie Wood, their teacher, got melanoma. She used to be Miss Staffordshire. The diagnosis came in October 2023. Students learned of her treatment at Royal Stoke. They then decided to show their thanks. They held bake sales. Also, they sold sweet jars. They held a sports tournament, a Christmas jumper day, and even played a stock and sponge game.

Stephanie Wood won Miss Staffordshire in 2015. She won Miss Staffordshire Great Britain thrice. She competed in Miss England and Miss Great Britain. She helped begin Miss Prom Staffordshire.

Izzy Mear is a sixteen-year-old student who leads the charity work. After talking to Stephanie, they picked UHNM Charity. They wished to thank the charity for their great work on patient care.

Stephanie mentioned the new charity team that includes Izzy and her team, who work each term to help local and national charities. These charities often link back to the school. The students aim to make a true difference.

She calls UHNM a fabulous charity. Stephanie is proud of her pupils. They raised a great amount of money, which shows the pupils’ generosity and dedication.
