An Australian woman faces serious charges for allegedly poisoning a toddler and posting videos online to raise funds, according to local police.
Brisbane: A woman in Australia has been arrested for some shocking allegations. She reportedly gave a 1-year-old girl drugs to make her sick. This went on for several months.
Local police say she then posted videos of the child online. She was looking for sympathy and donations. It’s really disturbing to think about what that little girl went through.
The police mentioned that the child suffered a lot of pain and distress. This lasted for over two months, from August to October last year. The woman, who is 34, hasn’t been named yet.
Authorities found out that she went to great lengths to get unauthorized medication. She even used old medicines from someone else in her home. It’s crazy how she hid this, even while the child was in the hospital.
Hospital staff eventually caught on and reported her to the police last October. Tests done on the child in January showed positive results for the unauthorized drugs.
According to reports, the woman raised around 60,000 Australian dollars, which is about $37,000, through GoFundMe. She was arrested at her home in Morningside on multiple serious charges.
Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said the child is now safe and doing well. Thankfully, no one else has been charged in this awful situation.
